Hormonal Imbalance / Compromised Pituitary Gland

25 yo female, 5’7”, 126 lbs, white Non-smoking Currently on Orsythia for birth control and acne, 200mg spironolactone for hormonal imbalance, and Singulair for asthma

My whole life I have been particularly susceptible to skin conditions. At 6 I had granuloma annulare. At 8 I had molluscum. At 10 I had shingles. When I reached puberty I had severe acne, including large pimples between my breasts. At 16 a dermatologist recommended I have my hormones checked. My testosterone came back borderline high and DHEA was double what it should be.

Doctors told me my body was not overproducing these hormones, but not properly flushing them out. They prescribed two doses of 100mg spironolactone a day. It was mostly effective. They did an ultrasound to check for PCOS and I did not have cysts on my ovaries. My doctors were not able to give me a real name for my condition.

After two years I was still occasionally getting acne between my breasts. I asked for a higher dosage. The doctor said I could not go higher, so she prescribed birth control.

I am now 25 years old. My sister (31yo female, 5’3”, 180 lbs, non smoking, only taking oral contraceptives) was recently told she has a compromised pituitary gland after she went in for numbness in her face (no vision issues). They also did bloodwork and found she has high testosterone, high prolactin, high insulin, and vitamin D deficient. She never exhibited any skin symptoms like I did. Although they have not actually checked for cysts on her ovaries, they diagnosed her with PCOS and insulin resistance.

Could there be any correlation between our conditions? Should I check my pituitary gland also?

Also, is there any way to treat my hormonal imbalance and acne without using hormonal birth control?
