Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right place l. If not, please let me know what is the right place and I’ll put it there.
I have a family history of hormonal disorder. My mother’s thyroid completely shut down and she was on meds for it all her life. My hormones have been a bit wacky but never enough that the doctors wanted to diagnose me with anything. My period has been somewhat irregular all My life. When I lived with other adult females in my early twenties, my period would synch up with theirs and I had it regular. Then I was on OCP so was regular because of that. Recently, I am 25, married and stopped using protection. I only live with my husband. I just thought it will happen when it happens. I thought it would take me a while to get pregnant because of my hormonal imbalances and we don’t have sex that much. My period has been somewhat irregular but not by much. It has only been two months since we stopped using any form of protection and we only do it a few times a week and sometimes once a week. My period hasn’t come and shows no sign of coming. It’s maybe three weeks late. I don’t really track it much since it’s irregular. I took a lot my of pregnancy tests. It is most likely negative but there is a very VERY faint second line. I’m not sure though it may be evaporation line and digital test shows negative (5 days ago). I went to doctor for blood tests and he is also testing my hormones, vitamins and iron at once. I am waiting for results. But I noticed he did qualitative HCG, which i heard is same accuracy as HPT... He also referred me for a pelvic ultrasound to check the ovaries for cysts under the PCOS suspicions (waiting for appointment). I don’t have acne or excessive body hair and I am a normal weight but I really feel I am heavy for how little I eat and exercise. I do sometimes get a sharp pain in the area where my ovaries are and I noticed this moreso when I was on the pill. I feel I have some ovarian cysts. Then I read people with PCOS saying they had a lot of negative tests when they were pregnant. Also I heard they have high chance of miscarriage and all that.
A few days ago I started getting cravings. I just feel I can’t eat enough pickles, which is like my hormonal craving food. And also chocolate ice cream with cookies which I haven’t eaten in years as I avoid sweets.
One reason I am especially anxious is because I work in childcare and I am not supposed to change nappies or anything while pregnant. It could cause miscarriage of birth defects. I’m really scared of that. I want to know if I am pregnant ASAP so I can tell my work.
Anyway, please tell me your experience getting pregnant with irregular periods and hormonal disorders. anyone else who had irregular periods and hormone disorders had the negative tests at first? And if you had these problems how long did it take you to get pregnant?
Tl;dr: irregular periods and possible hormone disorder.. negative tests but no period and pregnancy symptoms
