What's wrong with me that I can't even have a period right?

I got my first period at eleven and it's been all downhill from there tbh. For the past eight years my period was so irregular it was ridiculous. Sometimes it would last for four days, sometimes for nine or more days, and I frequently skipped 1-3 months. There has never been any rhyme or reason. I had a hormone imbalance for most of my teen years and I wasn't aware that was what was causing me extreme anxiety and mood swings, amongst other issues. Anyway, I finally bit the bullet and saw a gynecologist for the first time in October. She quickly deduced I had a hormonal imbalance and put me on birth control to straighten it out and regulate my periods. She also suspected I had ovarian cysts adding to the issues but wasn't concerned.

Well, it's been what, eight months? And I still can't decide whether my pills worked or not. My hormones definitely got straightened out; I was literally manic and out of my mind before being put on The Pill and though it took time, I'm significantly better now mentally. But my periods are still not right. My doc said not everyone gets their period on the same pill like clockwork. Idk if all birth control is like this but I have three rows of white pills and one row of brown, if I was normal I'd start on the first brown pill every time. But sometimes I start on the third or second to last white pill, sometimes I don't start until I'm two or three pills into the brown. It varies and this month, I was spotting pretty moderately like two weeks too soon. It sucks because I'm still having to wear pads for three or four days just in case because I can't know when it'll actually start. Everyone I know and 90% of the women I see talk about menstruation on the internet get their periods regularly. And something else weird? I don't get cramps. Never have.

I just...this is so stupid but I feel kind of self conscious about it. I've never been good at girl things and I literally can't even have a period right. Obviously I know it's out of my control. My title is also in jest, I know reasonably that what's wrong with me isn't my own doing. But ugh. I have other physical issues (TMI but I've had irritable bowel syndrome with constipation since I was 2 and it just sucks almost 24/7. I also had my gallbladder removed a couple years ago and that's complicated things) and it's just so irritating to be as young as I am, at 19, and my innards are all effed.

Thanks if you've read this far or at least skimmed lol. I'm just wondering, has anyone else had a period experience like this? With little to no symptoms or regularity even while on birth control?
