What to expect for a pre-conception appointment? Is it worth it?

A little background. We're in our mid-20s and on cycle #4 of trying for our first baby. I haven't been doing so well at charting (what a shame, I know). I usually stop checking my LH after the surge. But for this cycle, it's been 1.5 months since my peak and still no period, no baby.

I had a history of irregular periods. I once went for 8 months without it. I had some bloodwork done when I was 19 and was told that I had no hormonal imbalance, no PCOS. I also just read yesterday that PCOS can develop later in life, unless I interpreted the info incorrectly.

I called today to schedule a pre-conception appointment with an Ob/Gyn. I mostly wanted to address my concerns with my irregular cycles and to ask if there's any infertility issue I should be aware of. Apparently my insurance doesn't cover, so it can cost somewhere between $250-$350 for the visit. My husband is very supportive because he thinks it's worth the money for me to have a peace of mind. But when I reached out to a few support groups on fb, they all said it's a waste of money, don't go unless you know you have problems and/or you've been trying for a year. So now I'm contemplating if I should go or not...

I had my annual checkup in February and my doctor did some bloodwork to see if I had any genetic disorders and if I had enough nutrients/minerals/vitamins in me. What more would a pre-conception appointment add to it?

Thank you!
