Hi I had a jaydess (skyla) IUS inserted 6 weeks ago and my doctors have cancelled my coil check appointment due to coronavirus. It's really frustrating (although don't blame my doctors who are just following Gov advice) as I've been having some issues since insertion and I wondered if anyone could help. I got the Jaydess IUS because I developed vulvodynia on the combined contraceptive pill. I would have rather used something completely hormone free like the paraguard but I was also found to have PCOS which meant I was having very irregular periods and at one point did not have a period for >3 months which increases the risk of uterine cancer. So I needed something hormonal to thin my uterine lining. I had the Jaydess as I thought the fact the effects would be local would be good. I also seem to be very prone to thrush, I am not sure if this was a cause of my vulvodynia when on my pill (due to an underlying thrush caused by pill-induced hormone imbalance).
My swab before IUS insertion came back clear, I was worried I had thrush but this did not show up. The IUS insertion was fine and I've had minimal cramping since. BUT I have had constant bleeding every day for 6 weeks, at first fresh blood then more brown. I had some little cramps this morning and seem to have fresher blood again. The amount seems to be reducing at first needing tampons and now I'm just using small liners. I also seem to have constant thrush since I had it inserted although it seems to go from being under control (but I suspect still there underlying) to a big flare up again. I have had to do multiple canesten thrush treatments including internal cream and pesserie and tried a course of fluconazole 150mg two tablets, 72 hours apart but I still can't get rid of it. As I said I can't discuss this with my GP and it's really getting me down now. I've gone from one contraceptive that caused me problems to another. And I am also worried my vulvodynia is going to come back again.
Can anyone help with any of this in terms of reassurance or treatments I could try. I tried boric acid suppositories for 7 days but I'm not sure if the bleeding affects the treatment (it may also be affecting the canestan treatments). I know that bleeding can happen for 3-6 months after insertion but I thought it would more be on and off rather the everyday and that it would just be spotting.
Thanks in advance
