List of every known reason for low sperm count

Morning All,

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I was hoping to obtain some information about the causes of low sperm count. Here are the factors that I know can affect count, please add to this list if you know more:

  1. Lifestyle: • smoking • drinking alcohol • taking drugs (recreational drugs or steroids etc. / some prescribed medicines can also lower sperm count) • caffeine • eating unhealthy • being overweight • stress / depression

  2. Low testosterone levels

  3. Retrograde ejaculation (sperm passes into blader rather than being ejaculated out of the body).

  4. Variocele (swelling of veins in the scrotum)

  5. Small testicles

  6. Vitamin deficiency

  7. Missing vas derefers (sperm ducts)

  8. Undescended testicles

  9. STD/STI (sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia/gonorrhea)

  10. Erectile dysfunction

  11. Physical injury to testicles - (including past surgeries).

  12. Heat exposure

  13. Genetic disorder - (such as Klinefelter's syndrome - male has XX & Y chromosome)

  14. Anti-sperm antibodies - (immune system cells that mistakenly identify sperm as harmful invaders and attempt to destroy them)

  15. Hormone imbalance

  16. Tumors / Cancers - (which either effect the genitals directly or other parts of the body which support sperm production)

  17. Ejaculating to frequently

As you add to the list I'll update this post.
