Cortisol testing times- Different with DSPS?

Was thinking of posting this in a medical subreddit (I might still) but so many people don't understand DSPS (even a lot of doctors in my experience). Delete if not allowed.

Anyway, some background: I think I was born this way. I know that sounds like a stretch but according to my folks, I've never slept properly. I got diagnosed with DSPS some time ago (over 5 years ago) after years of complaints to doctors, seeing specialists (from childhood), and have tried just about every treatment you can think of. I work hard on sleep hygiene but my old GP eventually said I'll likely never have a 'normal' sleep schedule. I know even with a sleeping disorder bad habits happen so it can't all be blamed on it. For me managing my disorder is the difference between falling asleep between 1-3 am vs 4 -6.

So my doctor wants me to get a cortisol test. He said it needs to be done first thing in the morning. Like between 6-8 when your cortisol levels are their highest. I read it's done soon upon waking. I wake up later so would I go in later? I tried waking up early for it and I just couldn't. My energy levels are even worse than normal (probably due to hormonal imbalance). Not to mention I experience dizziness and brain fog in the mornings and I didn't feel like driving would be safe.
