I'm new to the forum and am looking for some advice regarding the cessation of sertraline (SSRI). I'm 24 now and have been taking sertraline for the last 8 years. At the time I was put on them I was in a terrible place after having been abused, my parents divorcing, teenage hormonal changes, etc. so it made sense that I went through a severe depressive episode.
I was told that I would be on the medication for around 6 months but we moved countries and life kept happening so I never went off them. I'm at a very happy and stable point in my life now and I'm adamant about coming off them to see if I still need them for a chemical imbalance.
I tapered off slowly but am now experiencing what I believe is withdrawal. Headaches, tiredness, irritability and low moods seems to take over my days now. It's been 5 days since my last tablet and I'm struggling a bit.
Has anyone gone through this or is it just me? I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to lessen the effects or improve my mood and energy levels. Thanks in advance!
