My wife destroyed our marriage due to a hormone imbalance. Her women friends knew and encouraged it anyway. They're not helping her.

Her uncontrollable rage and bragging about never having sex again were big clues. Her friends encourage her to be a "powerful woman" - because it makes them feel good?

Neither she, or them, are doing her any favors at all. We had a good nearly 30-year relationship and could have resolved this with a single visit to the family doctor. On top of that, I was completely willing to go to counseling to work on any underlying issues. But in her altered mental state, and with said friends encouraging her, she's actually proud of it.

Now? A year later, we're divorced. She lives in a terrible neighborhood and she's working off the debt she took with her. Rent for new tenants in her shit townhouse is already 50% higher than it was last year. She's getting child support for another eight months, then a small amount in cash over the next few years to cover half the cash value of my public pension. She works for a very small business full-time and a few hours part-time.

Right now? She's pulling in a good amount for the area. Over the next 5 years with my payments going away, that will be down over 10%. The owner of her company is getting older and has no children. I'm afraid for her that he will sell in the next several years. Even if he doesn't, she'll be 70 in 14 years. I'm 100% positive she's telling herself she won't retire but you can't work forever and that's obviously unsustainable.

Here's the big deal. She was relying on my retirement and has saved exactly $0.00. A social security estimate puts her at less than half her current income. That shit apartment is already up 50% and is going to be at least double by then, probably more. A generous estimate leaves her $6k per year to cover all her other expenses, including food an healthcare. Where will her girlfriends be then? Enjoying retirement with their partners while she's barely getting by.

I've tried to convince her that she needs to see the doctor and fix this so she can start dating again. But she's strong and independent- her friends keep telling her. She NEEDS a partner in her future. While I wish that partner was me, and it would kill me to see her with someone else, I've given up that wish and just don't want to see her starve in the future.
