I've been having thick, chunky, white discharge on & off since I was around 17 — I'm almost 24 now. I went to my gynecologist at the time so many times in one year, only to repeatedly be told that "discharge is normal". But this was thick, chunky, and excessive, so I wasn't convinced.. But I eventually gave up because no one could figure it out. I was negative for every infection and even tested for STD's/I's - Nothing ever came back positive. The gyno at the time could only ever really pin it down to a possible hormonal imbalance.
Present time, I still deal with it on random parts of my cycle. I haven't identified exactly when it happens because I feel like it's so sporadic. I could be having completely normal, thin white discharge, and the next day notice it's chunky again. I'm nearing the end of my period right now and I noticed there was the excess discharge built up inside, just now covered in blood. It doesn't look like uterine shedding. It's just like it is when I'm off my period.
I haven't been to a gynecologist since I was 21 — So I'm planning on finding one soon to get a pap smear, tested, get on birth control, etc. Should I bring this up? Has anyone else experienced this?
