Full regrowth after one month?

Hi, I am looking for some advice and wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I have been going to a med spa for laser hair removal treatment for about four months now. They use the Vectus diode laser. It’s a reputable place with thousands of five star reviews. They were offering a winter special of $189 per session for legs, Brazilian, and under arms. I am pale with coarse, dark hair, and was told I am the perfect candidate.

Everything was going great. After only two sessions I had about 85% of my hair completely gone. My bikini area was practically reflective. However, after my third session, all of the hair started growing back. I don’t mean that it came back in patches, or that it came back more fine than before. No, it came back completely, as if I had never had laser at all.

I brought this up at my next session, the fourth session. The nurse was confused, since after the first two sessions, they turn up the laser strength, so that should not have been an issue at all. I was experiencing a bad acne outbreak, so we decided to chalk it up to a hormonal imbalance and keep going with the treatment. After the fourth session, I still have zero hair reduction. This is on both my Brazilian area and my legs, though they are not quite as bad as my Brazilian area. My hair is fully back.

How does something like this happen? The nurse is completely stumped as to what is going on. It worked so well for three months, but now all of that work is basically undone. My past two sessions I have paid for absolutely zero results.

Could it be the strength of the laser? Maybe it’s not strong enough, and is actually promoting my hair to grow? I’ve heard that can happen sometimes. Or the opposite; maybe it is too strong? I highly doubt the laser is too strong. When I tell you the laser process has been absolutely painless for me I am not exaggerating. It feels like someone running their warm hand over my skin, at worst maybe like a light flick.

Is there anyone out there who has had this happen to them as well? Any insight into practices that could make this happen, places where this is more likely to happen, parts of the body…? I am so frustrated. This was working so well and now I have wasted so much time and money.
