New to acupuncture... have some questions :D

Hello there everyone!

I have a few questions, don't feel the need to answer them all but if there is one you could answer that would be great.

A bit of my backstory- I am honestly feeling really awful mentally and physically for a multitude of reasons. I endured complex trauma from my childhood that has manifested itself into a lot of mental and physical health issues including mild hormonal acne, SIBO + other gut health issues, extreme anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, inflammation in parts of my body, etc LOL. My nervous system needs some serious assistance. I have tried supplements, herbal teas, medication for my mental health, breathwork, yoga, journaling, meditation, therapy, osteopathy, gua sha, elimination diet, whole 30 diet, other diets, etc etc. I sense that I may have a hormonal imbalance that is severely impacting me but its hard to say because I don't have terrible or irregular periods and I am not on any birth control. My energy levels and my ability to regulate my emotions are non existent. I often feel extremely tired everyday and I eat well, high protein, little to no sugar or processed foods. I also often feel either anxious, depressed or angry and could just cry for hours because I feel so awful.

I have health insurance that covers this so I am very grateful I can try this and see how it works.

Here are my questions:

  1. What should I look for in an acupuncturist? There is a lot of them in the area I live in that all have very great reviews, What questions should I ask them?
  2. Can acupuncture help my mental health, my poor sleep, energy levels, acne, fine lines on face, hip, foot and ankle inflammation?
  3. Is there other modalities/ things I should do alongside acupuncture ?
  4. I know it will be different for everyone but typically how many sessions does it take to notice a difference?
