I have PCOS which I think actually may have contributed to my gender dysphoria. Because PCOS actually increases androgens (testosterone) naturally. My gender dysphoria and even overall queerness did seem to reduce when I got my hormone levels back to normal.
It makes me curious, could some (not all) trans men actually have gender dysphoria due to PCOS hormonal imbalances? I have never seen PCOS explored as a reason for gender dysphoria.
Another thing, with PCOS, it’s an underrated health condition as the condition itself is not terrible but leads to significantly higher risk of ovarian cancer, diabetes, endometrial cancer, painful cysts (which can rupture), obesity, etc.
If it is clearly not healthy for the female body to have abnormal levels of T and can lead to so many health issues, why doesn’t this get considered by doctors treating trans men?
Why do all other health issues seem to get disregarded because of gender dysphoria. Look at Jazz Jennings. Clearly not healthy at all. And seems to be a direct result of transition as none of her family have health issues. But looks like all her other health issues are just neglected and blamed on her.
