Neutering

Hey All,

I have a 2 year old male that is scheduled to get neutered soon. He’s my first dog and I’m feeling nervous about going through with it after going down a “researching” rabbit hole on the internet to try and learn what is the best for him. His vet recommended it and I don’t at all pretend to be an expert but I was readying some journals that said it doesn’t really do much other than reduce the risk of testicular cancer (obviously). Apparently there are possible side effects of hormone imbalances that could affect bone growth later on and I’m just not really sure whether I should go through with it. I know it’s a very common practice, I just have never gone through this before and am unsure I’m making the best decision for him. Has anyone here kept their dogs intact and have any positive/ what I’ve experienced they could share? Not planning on studding him out or anything just feel bad for chopping off his balls if I don’t need to :-(
